Monday Worksite Group 2 - Passionist Nuns

"But if we hope for what we do not see,

Because of one delay after another, Elaine did not arrive until late Monday morning.  And then a few more delays after the arrival made it so that visiting only one worksite was all that was possible.  Tomorrow will be a better day and more photos will be available; however, in the next post, we have some awesome group leaders that shared some pictures to make up for it.

We spoke with Sr. Mary Ann in this passionist nuns community, who has lived there for 27 years. She had told Lisa in years past that the Thorn Tree on the property is the same kind of thorns that were used to make the crown of thorns for Jesus.  After googling this to get more information on it, we are not sure if this is correct, but the thorns on this tree are still quite impressive!

The nuns have beautiful grounds on which they live, but way too much for them to keep up with. One of the groups worked hard to restore the graveside and mini chapel area. The gravestones were black and although we do not have a before picture, this one we found on the internet gives you a good idea of the black mold growing on the tombstones.

With much bleach and scrubbing, the 30 headstones are a beautiful white once again.  And anytime there is a hose added to the mix, someone is sure to get wet!

Many weeds were pulled to help with the overgrown garden and the little chapel was given some special attention as well.

In all things I have shown you
 that by working hard in this way
 we must help the weak
